New Life Mwangaza Rehabilitation Centre is seeking a Volunteer Teacher to join our dedicated
team. You will work with boys aged 14–18 undergoing drug rehabilitation, many of whom have
dropped out of mainstream education.
Role Summary
As part of our holistic rehabilitation programme, you will teach basic literacy and numeracy (English, Kiswahili, Mathematics), and deliver creative and life-skills activities using music, drama, sports, and art.
Time Commitment
3 days per week (Tuesday to Thursday).
Key Responsibilities
- Access the educational needs of clients and tailor the informal curriculum accordingly
- Deliver engaging lessons in core subjects and life skills through creative methods
- Lead weekly extracurricular activities such as music, sports, or arts
- Maintain student progress records and contribute to client case meetings
- Support reintegration efforts through collaboration with social workers and caregivers
- Participate in community outings and holistic Centre activities
Who We’re Looking For
- Minimum Diploma in Education (or related field)
- At least 2 years of experience working in informal or alternative education settings
- Creative, adaptable, and able to inspire learners from vulnerable backgrounds
- Team player with good communication and planning skills
- A commitment to child protection and trauma-informed care principles
