In today’s fast-paced and often broken world, many young people are growing up without stable families, supportive communities, or a sense of purpose. For street-connected boys, this reality is even more severe. At New Life Mwangaza, we believe that faith is not just a belief system it is a lifeline. It provides the hope, direction, and identity that young boys need to rise above their circumstances and thrive.

A Crisis of Identity and Hope Street-connected boys are often dismissed by society as lost, troubled, or beyond help. But behind every tough exterior is a young soul searching for love, acceptance, and meaning. Many of these boys have been forced to grow up too fast exposed to abuse, addiction, crime, or abandonment. Without intervention, the cycle continues.
This is where faith becomes powerful. When boys begin to understand that they are created in the image of God, loved unconditionally, and destined for greatness, everything begins to change.
Faith as a Foundation for Transformation At Mwangaza, we’ve seen firsthand how introducing boys to the message of Christ is often the beginning of a complete life transformation. Through daily devotions, prayer, mentorship, and Bible studies, we guide them toward:
- Healing from past trauma
- Forgiveness for themselves and others
- Vision for a new, purposeful future
- Discipline rooted in Biblical principles
- Confidence that they are never alone
Faith helps these boys realize they are not defined by where they came from, but by where God is taking them.
Building More Than Just Character While many youth programs focus on behavior, we focus on the heart. Through a Christ-centered approach, we nurture spiritual growth alongside academic, emotional, and social development. This includes:
- Residential care that fosters family-like love and accountability
- Education and life skills training to prepare for independence
- Christian mentorship from staff who live out the Gospel daily
- Community involvement where boys learn the joy of serving others
We’ve seen boys who once lived on the streets become leaders in their communities, role models for their peers, and even ministers of the Gospel.
Real Stories, Real Impact Take Elvis, for example. When he first arrived at Mwangaza, he was angry, mistrustful, and deeply hurt. Through months of discipleship and counseling, he began to open up to the love of Christ. Today, Elvis is a top student, a worship leader in our chapel, and dreams of becoming a teacher so he can help other children like him.
Elvis is just one of many whose lives have been forever changed by faith.
